Dear Reader, This year I choose a Word of the Year. Something to come back to when life feels noisy or off track. This year my word is Grounded. And honestly? It has been less about adding things and more about releasing them. This spring I've been quietly letting go of more than just the clutter around my house. I stopped volunteering at my daughter's school — something I carried guilt about until I acknowledged I was showing up a bit depleted and checked out rather than present and engaged. I've been putting my phone on Do Not Disturb and silencing text notifications more than ever. Small things. But they've helped me stay grounded and I feel better for it. The bigger one I'm working on — and I say working on because it's a practice not a finish line — is releasing comparison. Other people's resources, highlight reels, and careers. It's sneaky and it's relentless and it quietly steals something from you if you let it. This ongoing practice of release is why I wrote the post, Comparison is the Thief of Joy. Because it is. And spring feels like the right season to loosen its grip a little — to come back to your own life, your own value. If any of this resonates, I think you'll find something useful in it. It's one of my favorites. → Read "Comparison is the Thief of Joy (How to Break Free)" Here's to a lighter spring — in every sense of the word. Warmly, Macie P.S. — If you haven't chosen your Word of the Year yet, it's never too late. I have a free worksheet that makes the process simple and meaningful. Grab it here. |

Dear Reader, My older two kids are officially out of school for the summer. My daughter has one more week to go. And yes, it has thrown a total wrench in my days! My Uber driving has gone up significantly and gone are my quiet mornings of work and focus. But summer doesn't have to mean total chaos... You can still keep a handle on how your home runs, even with kids at home, college kids back, a busier travel schedule or just a completely different summer rhythm than the rest of the year. The...
Hi Reader, Even in a fairly clutter-free house, one space always seems to collect everything. For my family, it's the kitchen. You name it, it ends up here: backpacks, dance shoes, charging cords, mail, dishes (oh my gosh the dishes!!). Throughout the day my kitchen counter and table are completely covered in stuff. For my sanity and just to simply find things, I must reset it daily. Thankfully this doesn't take long and honestly the biggest satisfaction comes from the wipe down of the...
Hi Reader, A few weeks ago I asked what your biggest home challenge was and so many of you wrote back. Closets, tiny kitchens, pantries, downsizing — thank you for sharing. You reminded me that we're all navigating the same stuff, and I greatly appreciate the feedback! Speaking of stuff… I popped into Target last week for a few items and walked straight into their summer display: beach towels, sunscreen, colorful coolers. All of it well merchandised and very tempting. I stopped. I looked. I...
